My name is Justin Doyle Morgan, and I was born on February 27, 1981. At the time, my dad was a Concord College graduate, and my mom was finishing her senior year at Concord (important details). Until I was eight, we moved several times, and finally ended up in Roanoke, VA. My family finally agreed on attending Connelley Memorial Baptist Church, where my parents later joined. We always went to church, so I had heard the Word all my life. My life changed one night in 1992. The church's Royal Ambassador group had a pizza party the last Wednesday before school let out for summer. The youth pastor explained that my life was the pizza, and the toppings were sin. He then further explained this metaphor. We are all born in sin, but when we accept Jesus, he cleans us of all sins (completely removes all the toppings from the pizza). It was that night that I turned my life to Jesus Christ. I later joined the church in Believer's Baptism on August 24, 1997. Between my Salvation and December 31, 1999, I slowly sunk in discouragement. The church was shrinking in number, and the youth group was no exception. My mom stopped going to church. I placed too much time into school and work. I was active in the church's youth group, but was discouraged. In March of 1998, it was time to start thinking about college. My dad had Concord College send me information on their open house, and we went. I decided that I would keep Concord in mind while I looked at other colleges. I was accepted by Concord, but after being accepted by West Virginia Wesleyan and Bridgewater, Concord was my third choice college. This stayed true until Concord called me about their top scholarship, which I later won. None of the other colleges topped Concord's offer, so I decided to go to Concord on a full academic scholarship. I felt this was God telling me where I should go. Of course, I wondered why God wanted me to go to a small public college almost in the middle of nowhere. I got involved with the Concord Christian Connection, and met many new friends. I also got involved with several Bible studies on campus. Little did I know, my question would be answered at the end of the semester. Around the beginning of December, Bill Sprouse told me I ought to go to the Campus Crusade for Christ Christmas Conference I had been hearing about on and off during the semester. I was so discouraged by this point that I was going to just pass the opportunity away. Bill finally convinced me to call my parents for the money to go. My parents said yes, and all I could think about afterwards was the conference. It was at the conference that I felt a huge change in my life. And on December 31, 1999, shortly after midnight, I recommitted my life to Jesus Christ and accepted a leadership position in the Concord Christian Connection -- leading the brand new "Multimedia Team". (Did I mention we all got very little sleep that morning?) God finally answered my question as to why I am a student at Concord. Now I could not wait to get back to school! The spring semester has started, and I am excited about the Multimedia Team. We are all putting our faith in God that he will supply everything we will need for this new addition to the Concord Christian Connection. |
